I'm a PageMaps Girl!

Yes, I get excited by the most trivial of things, but I was so honored to be able to contribute a layout for the April PageMaps that were released this week. I had a great time working with Becky Fleck's fabulous sketch:


And here's my layout, using the Sassafras Cherry Delicious line (which was perfect with these silly photos):


I was having trouble deciding what to do with the circle when I discovered that I had Making Memories paint in the perfect shade of blue. So I cut a circle from scrap cardstock (an ugly shade of orange I knew I'd never use) and painted it. Not only does it provide great contrast on the layout, it also has a nice brushstroke texture.

Getting Fresh with MLYB

Like most traditional scrapbookers, I have an unnatural degree of love for paper. On the rare occasions that I venture into a brick and mortar scrapbook store, I can get lost in there for hours poring over every paper line, oohing and ahhing over the colors, textures, prints...it's almost too much for my senses to handle. (I think that's why I order usually my stuff online...it's just safer that way.)

When the ladies at Clip It Up promised to send me a box of goodies to make some cards for their displays, I didn't really know what I was going to get. Then I opened the box and found the Fresh Print Clothesline papers from My Little Yellow Bicycle --- wheeee! I love, love, love the colors and subtle patterns in this line. It's girly without being over the top and sweet without being gooey. I could NOT stop playing with it.




And this is kind of old news now, but I'm still pinching myself because it seems totally surreal. My "Watch Me Grow" layout is in the current issue of Creating Keepsakes.


My older daughter thinks it's cool, but I think she's a little bummed that her sister got into a magazine before she did. So I have to work extra hard to get a layout with A published...and soon! (no pressure)

At last...sunny on Saturday!

How long has it been since we've had a beautiful, sunny, warm Saturday like this? Too long! We're headed to A's soccer game in a bit and I'm looking forward to sitting on a blanket on the grass and soaking up some fresh air and sunlight (with SPF 35 slathered on). Then we'll come home, clean up and drop the kids off at the play place so Adam and I can have a dinner date. Yippee!

As I was organizing my photos this morning, I found this layout that I somehow never got around to posting on the blog. This is one of those photos of C that makes me go "Awwww."


I love the way the leaves turned out. I hand cut them and inked the edges to give them an organic feel. Then I folded them down the center and adhered the crease to the page along the vines.


And now I'm off to enjoy this gorgeous day! Hope you're all getting some beautiful weather where you are!

Music makes the world go 'round

March has nearly blown right by me (and judging by the wind outside, I'm not the only one!), but I finally got a chance to play with the awesome box of Live Loud goodies from Imaginisce. Music is kind of a big thing in our house, so when I saw all the retro cassette tapes and guitars, I had lots of ideas -- most of which I'm still working on. But I couldn't wait to post this fun little project I made for my daughter. She's learning her musical notes for piano and her piano teacher mentioned I should make her some flashcards. So I made this...


What? You don't think it looks like a set of flashcards? Ahhh, look again...


I printed the notes from this site I found (thank you, Google!), then trimmed them out and matted them to cardstock with Tombow Mono Adhesive. The note is on the front of each card and the answer is on the back.


The "book" is raw chipboard that I trimmed and covered with cardstock, using Tombow Aqua liquid glue. Then, I decorated with paper, stickers and rubons from the Imaginisce Live Loud collection.

This is one of my favorite pages. I used the "Live Loud" acrylic stamp with white ink to create the background on denim blue cardstock. Simple, but cool effect!


The "Don't Stop the Music" sticker on the cover is my not-so-subliminal message to my daughter. I hope she will stick with piano lessons as long as I did (12 years). So far so good. And the fun flashcards didn't hurt.
